Question About Privacy and Data Collection

Hello,

We’re looking into using PDF.JS Express and have a couple of questions about privacy.

I saw an older post here saying that PDF.js doesn’t collect any data, but when I looked at the privacy policy, it says IP addresses are collected. So I’m a bit confused and just want to double-check.

Could you clarify:

  1. Is there a written privacy policy we can reference?
  2. What data (if any) is collected—like telemetry or info about the documents being opened?

We just want to make sure we’re compliant and know what to expect.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

You can read this license agreement here:

The telemetry part is outlined in section 8 - remote connection.

See this forum post for more details:

Best regards,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for the response.

In Section 8, it says:

Licensee acknowledges and agrees that the Software may connect remotely to Apryse’s servers in order to verify License Key and domain information for the purpose of license verification.

However, the forum post you linked mentions additional telemetry (which isn’t mentioned in the license agreement):

We track things like:

  • Number and type of annotations created
  • Number of documents loaded
  • Number of application loads
  • Country of origin

Is the license agreement up to date?

Regards,

Hello @kkim

Just following up on my question about whether the license is up to date. Any updates?

Thanks!
